Super Bowl XXII
HALFTIME SHOW

On Jan. 31, 1988, at Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego, California, 1200 entertainers wowed Super Bowl spectators, with their unforgettable halftime performance, “Something Grand”.

Between 44 Rockettes, 400 swing band members, 300 jazzercise dancers, 88 tuxedoed pianists on 88 Kimball grand pianos, two college marching bands (San Diego State’s and USC’s) and one legendary Chubby Checker bringing back his massive hit “The Twist,” this show-stopping spectacle was the first halftime show designed especially for viewers watching on ABC Network and in numerous countries around the world.
